Week 7

Idea #7: Counterfactual Identity

What I tried to do was to wear something that I don’t usually wear and that is bright colored clothes so I got a hoodie that had a bright-colored flower print on it and wore it while I went to school.

The person that I asked to guess my name and major was Irwin Cheung and I have him for my Chinese class. When he saw me with my hoodie on, he thought that I was a different person but then he realized that it was actually me and I asked him what he thought my name and my major was and he thought that I was called Chris and that my major was Computer Science. The way that he responded to me seemed like if I was a stranger to him because he never saw me wearing something bright so it probably surprised him when he saw that it was actually me.

What I thought about this experience is that I felt weird that my classmate thought that I was a different person. I had fun with this activity because I also went to my friends from high school and they were surprised that I was wearing something out of the ordinary. It felt nice to wear something different so I might start wearing different clothes because the activity was a breath of fresh air to me.
